1. Proper oil weight for the temperature of your day, and fresh oil and filter. 2. Brakes - My OEM brakes faded even during a light push which sent me spinning off. If you have OEM brakes make sure you have a track pad and track-worthy fluid. The 300ZX is heavy and powerful, and by modern standards the brakes are way undersized. 3. Ensure all cooling systems are 100% functional including fan clutch, electric fan, radiator clear, thermostat, etc. 4. Make sure you have no leaks, and battery tie down is good. 5. Make sure you have at the very minimum high perf summer tires with good tread. Otherwise as long as the rest of your car is in good shape, let it rip!
